In 2023 we were commissioned by a new client to produce a video that explain the struggles that young people face when entering adulthood with the rare muscle-weakening condition known as Duchenne.
The project was run by Dr Suzanne Glover, the lead community researcher at Pathfinders.
Here’s what she had to say.

The filmmaking journey for me was incredibly eye. The main focus was around the people and the stories they had to tell. There were a few points where I almost had to stop recording because of the tears in my eyes. But wasn’t all sorrow. Their outlook on life is stronger than anything I’ve ever known and their push to live life to it’s fullest has forever changed the way I look at the world.

I met such a diverse group of people, each giving me an insight into their own worlds. In Newcastle, I got to witness Alex practice with his band, which just so happens to be the first Duchenne fronted band in the country. In London, Benjamin drove me to the supermarket in his van with no steering wheel. In Manchester, Liam introduced me to the Man United Powerchair Football team. In the space of two weeks I felt like a different person and before long, I realised these sorts of stories are the ones I’m destined to tell.
